What should I ask?

Pretty simple, ask whatever you want to know about. Try to keep it appropriate, but otherwise, just be yourself!

Q: how long have you been making your own music? and as a fan of yours, I would like to know you abit more, because I'm allways looking for new friends
A: I don't think there was ever a time when I wasn't making up my own music. From the time I could talk and maybe even before I was singing imaginary songs. I spent hours in my room with a tape recorder making up nonsensical songs. The first song that I wrote that was released is "Hello", which was written when I was about 13. By all means feel free to stay in touch. If you want to know more about my daily life and thoughts you can follow me on Twitter, http://www.twitter.com/hlhutchison

Q: Where do you see yourself going in the future as far as music?
A: Honestly, at this exact point in my musical life, answering this question scares me. I'm not quite certain what path my music will take. I am at the very beginning stages of writing for a new album, after taking some time off to study music on a post secondary level and to make some other life changes I.E. planning a wedding. At this stage I'm not sure exactly how the next album is going to sound. I'm excited for what the future holds musically, but it's also a little stressful because in everything I do, with every song I write, album I make, concert I perform, I want to get better. Studying music in college has made me more of a perfectionist, which can sometimes make songwriting frustrating. What I am super excited about though is my plan to record this next album in South America with musicians from there. They will add so much to the songs and likely take them in a direction I never imagined, it's a very exciting idea for me.

Q: I'm bad at these... but since I think you're awesome,
do you have any really amusingly weird stories of things fans have done or said to you, either good or bad? I know there has to be something...
A: I like this question, because it's made me think back on some funny stories and remember how lucky I am that there are people who are passionate about my music. Nobody has done or said anything super crazy, although people in the front row at shows have occasionally yelled funny things in the middle of songs to see what I'd do. I have had a couple people find my number and call me, which seemed strange to me because if I were them I'd spend my time finding the number of some super rich and famous person. Most of the slightly strange things people have done or said just make me appreciate them because it means that they are excited about my music, which is what it's all about for me. Although maybe it'd be interesting to have some underwear thrown on stage or something sometime, just so I could say it's happened to me.

Q: Also, can you name some other artists whose music you enjoy listening to? Just honestly curious.
A: I love a little bit of everything from a lot of genres. If I want to be musically challenged I listen to Jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan are some of my favourite jazz singers. Sophie Milman is a great newer/more contemporary jazz singer. I will always love Evanescence, especially their early work. Amy is incredible. Right now I'm really enjoying The Decemberists, Serena Ryder, Amy Winehouse (RIP), The Band Perry, Eva Cassidy, Bonnie Raitt, Tori Amos, to name a few. I'm also listening to a lot of Latin pop these days. Luis Enrique is fabulous as are the musicians he plays with, Chino y Nacho are my impossible loves, Sin Bandera is great when I'm feeling down, but don't tell anyone... I hope that gives you a good enough idea of just a few of the artists I listen to from a number of genres. I could spend all night naming artists, but I'm running out of room. You should definitely check out the artists listed above, they are all fabulous.

Q: When you were younger, what did you want to grow up to be?
A: A taxi driver, of course! Haha. Well I love animals, so I always wanted to be a vet, but then I realized I'd have to do and see things that would break my heart. I've wanted to be a singer since I was 7 or so, I remember my brother was going to lend me $100 so I could record an album... if only albums were actually that cheap to record!

Q: Who or what are your major influences?
A: For good or for bad, everything that I encounter influences me in some way. This isn't a static answer as my influences are always changing and there is so much great music out there and so many opportunities for new ideas.
